- Forage Plus Oats is a high yielding forage oat developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- Forage Plus Oats has very high dry matter yield, acceptable forage quality and relatively low crude protein percentage.
- During the early stages of development, Forage Plus grows slowly, which allows the alfalfa to get a good start before Forage Plus begins competing with the alfalfa.
- Forage Plus Oats is a late-maturing oat.
- Forage Plus Oats also have excellent crown rust resistance. Recommended cutting time is at early heading when the first spike-lets are just beginning to emerge from the boot. Cutting can be made up to a week prior to heading, with a reduced, but still competitive dry matter yield. It is the ideal heifer and dry cow feed.
- Forage Plus Oats should be harvested for maximum yield and quality at boot stage development. Harvesting to early will decrease yield but improves feed quality.
